Following are different types of electrical cables: Coaxial cable: A coaxial cable has a copper-plated core, surrounded by a dielectric insulator. It has a woven shield of copper that surrounds the insulating layer, and is covered by an outermost plastic sheath.
Ribbon cable: A ribbon cable, also called a multi-wire planar electrical cable or a flat twin cable, is made up of multiple insulated wires that run parallel to each other. The wires are commonly used to interconnect network devices. This cable can also connect the motherboard with other core central processing unit components.
Twisted Pair cable: A twisted pair cable is used for telephone cabling and wiring local area networks. This cable consists of pairs of insulated copper wires which are twisted around each other. It is easy to install, flexible and inexpensive.
Shielded cable: This type of cable is made up of one or more insulated wires that are sealedtogether by an aluminum Mylar foil or woven braid shielding. The shielding prevents the cable from external radio and power frequency interference and allows signal transmissions to proceed smoothly.
